Calling and Context was the topic of our second Spring Labs on March 17 with Dr. Patrick Reyes, Senior Director of the Forum for Theological Exploration and author of The Purpose Gap: Empowering Communities of Color to Find Meaning and Thrive. It was a rich hour filled with fresh perspective on how we view and approach the idea of calling and purpose. Our context and experience matter.Where we come from shapes who we are now and into the future, and we must do a much better job of creating conditions for those different contexts to be recognized, valued and integrated into educational and institutional life.
You can download the presentation that Dr. Reyes shared during the session, that includes the Donut Model and the practices he illustrated. Look for the button that says Purpose Gap Practices here.
During the call, participants inquired about the source of research Patrick referred to. The Children Opportunity Index is the data on geography leading to quality of life outcomes for children.
He also referenced the Greater Good Magazine based at UC Berkeley, which highlights science-based insights for a meaningful life.
