About CityGate

We long for the transformation of cities through the everyday work of Christians and their organizations, so we co-create a treasured community of trust-filled, learning friendships working toward collaboration and Spirit-led risk-taking.

ways to give

CityGate is a national network of leaders and organizations working at the intersection of faith, work, and cities.

It’s a place where the leaders shaping faith, work, and cities meet.
story behind the name

Why Name It CityGate?

In the ancient world, the city gate was the center of city life. It was the place of commerce, public assemblies, judicial activities, sacred ceremonies, and cultural life. Today, in a secular age, faith is often divorced from the core activities — business, government, justice,  education, health care, arts — that make up a city.

We chose the name CityGate as an expression of our value of bringing work into our faith and faith into our work, our shared public life, and our culture.

our guiding principles

The Four Gs capture the posture and culture we hope will define the CityGate network. They name how we show up with one another—as practitioners who are generous with ideas, generative in imagination, galvanized by conviction, and grounded in faithful action in our cities.

We are Generous

We co-create a network of peer practitioners and thought leaders who work from and toward an abundance mindset.

We are Generative

We cultivate a spirit of risk-taking and innovation that births new or improved ventures and projects at the intersection of faith, work, and cities.

We are Grounded

We catalyze redemptive action in workplaces, professions, and industries God has placed us.

We are Galvanized

We are convinced the intersection of the biblical vision for vocational and cultural flourishing is central to the future of work, cities, and the church.

The Three Values That Shape How We Work Together

The Four Gs describe the spirit of the CityGate network; our Three Values describe the culture that enables it. Trust, collaboration, and risk-taking form the relational and operational culture that allows the network to flourish.
People are holding hands

Trust

We build relationships marked by integrity, transparency, and mutual respect. Trust creates the foundation that allows leaders across the network to share openly, learn honestly, and pursue work together with confidence.

Collaboration

We believe the best ideas and initiatives emerge when leaders work with trust  across organizations and cities. Collaboration channels the network’s collective wisdom toward shared learning, joint projects, and initiatives that extend beyond any single organization.

Risk-Taking

We cultivate a spirit of experimentation, innovation, and courage in pursuit of new possibilities. Risk-taking allows the network to test ideas, launch new initiatives, and respond creatively to the opportunities God places before our cities.
